When the Puppet Cuts the Strings

Episode 22 of 90

Alfred Roger is the son of the richest man on Earth, yet the one thing his fortune cannot buy is the affection of Haley Peck, the girl he has loved since childhood. He spends lavishly to keep her happy, sending her more than a million dollars every month and carrying out each of her requests without complaint. The balance shifts when a grave illness threatens his life and he asks her for just $100,000 toward his treatment. Her answer is a cold refusal, and that moment exposes how one-sided their bond has been.
