She Sheds Her Skin for Wicked Men

Episode 9 of 19

Raised by a clan that serves the Spider Goddess, the narrator must kill a truly wicked man to preserve her family's power, a duty owed every ten years. Days before her twentieth birthday, her mother pressed her once more to find a suitable target in the town of Ashfield. Her boyfriend has just cuffed her to a bed while he haggles over her price with a buyer, assuming she is merely the night's merchandise. Inside, she realizes he may be exactly the kind of man her clan demands, and her own father's cruelty makes the choice even harder.
