Irene's stepfather Carl sells her to the Brade Mafia family to clear his gambling debts, and her mother begs her to accept the sacrifice. Refusing to forgive them, Irene cuts ties with her family and, after a chance meeting with the enigmatic Vincent at the bar where she works, spends a night with him on her birthday. When she wakes up she slips away, only to be knocked out by Carl and delivered to Damian, the mafia's second-in-command. Inside the manor she finds a silent five-year-old boy named Luca, whom she assumes is a prisoner, and she tries to help him escape, unaware of who he really is. Damian catches her again, and at the moment of his threat Vincent bursts through the door, revealed as the boss of the family.
