Reese Calder orders a custom companion android, model 006, built to look like Nolan Vance, the spoiled rival she has pushed against since childhood. During the day he handles chores and obeys her every order, but at night he defies commands and blurs the line between machine and man. Then a message from the company claims her companion never actually shipped, and Nolan waves it off as a joke while a friend warns that discovering the truth could end everything for him. The problem is that Reese does uncover the truth, and the man who lied to her is still on his knees in front of her.
