Bridget ignores her mother Lynelle's strong objections and goes ahead with her marriage to Charles. Through a mix-up, Charles invites Lynelle to the wedding celebrations anyway. At the ceremony, Janice pressures Bridget into signing a deeply one-sided agreement, and Charles sides with her, even lashing out violently. When he smashes a jade pendant that belonged to Bridget's mother, the celebration turns into chaos just as Lynelle walks in, ready to make her anger known.
