Selene, a vampire who was raised in isolation, is handed in marriage to Julian, an heir who has lain in a coma. On their wedding night she feeds on him, and the shock brings him back to consciousness. Julian steps in to shield her from the dangers closing in around her, and the two soon realize they can hear each other's thoughts. Having been cast aside by the families that raised them, they unite with a shared goal: bringing down the two powerful houses that wronged them.
