Inside a Story Set in 1999: From Cannon Fodder to Tycoon

Episode 42 of 70

Dylan Funk, a modern writer, wakes up trapped inside a novel, occupying the body of a doomed side character who serves as nothing more than expendable fodder. The original host was a meek people-pleaser who was manipulated, robbed of his family fortune, and destined to die penniless. Armed with contemporary know-how and foreknowledge of the plot, Dylan refuses to play the pawn and instead plots his moves against layered schemes and merciless rivals. Every business chance the year 1999 offers becomes a step toward reshaping his fate.
