His Countdown Ended, but I Died

Episode 17 of 45

Everyone in the Nash family can see the countdown hanging above Eli, the brother who will die on the day he turns a certain age. Because the number is visible to all, the family has long known exactly when his time runs out, and that knowledge shapes every conversation under the same roof. The narrator watches how this certainty changes the way they treat him, and how much they may have missed while waiting for the end.
