Evelyn Kemp, facing a terminal leukemia diagnosis, travels to Sutvia intending to end her life through assisted death. There she runs into Noel Roth, her former boyfriend, who is about to wed Joanna Duvall, the woman he betrayed Evelyn with, on Evelyn's own birthday. The shock of that encounter sets up a painful clash between the past she left behind and the cruel present she now faces.
