A Wedding, A Forgotten Debt

Episode 9 of 40

Three years after an earthquake claimed her husband and son while they rescued neighbors from their building, Martha Hale is still carrying that loss. The source ends mid-thought at a point where a neighbor's debt begins to surface, so the story is set up around a grieving widow who is about to discover a past obligation that others would rather keep buried. Her determination to face that buried debt becomes the engine of the drama, pitting a quiet mourner against people who think the past should stay forgotten.
