In a world overrun by monsters, power belongs to those called Beast Soul Ascendants, who seem to hold the fate of everyone else in their hands. Samuel Flynn is an ordinary delivery worker with no such gift, living a modest life far from the battles that shape the realm. The story sets up his quiet existence and the sharp contrast with the dangerous, ascendant elite who rule over it.
