The Substitute Bride

Gardenia is pushed into taking her cousin's place at a wedding she never wanted, because the cousin refuses to marry her elderly, wealthy fiancé. The arrangement leaves Gardenia stuck between family pressure and a groom she did not choose, and the wedding day arrives before she has any real way out. Her quiet acceptance of a role meant for someone else sets the story moving.
