Starry Fragments

Abandoned in the wilderness by the Sharp family, who hoped to steal her luck, Marlene Sharp was rescued and raised by Michael the Whole at a school of magic. Years later, with her arts fully mastered, she set out to find the man destiny chose for her, Shane James, and to wed him as a required step of her Trial. She arrived just as Shane lay gravely ill and was about to lose his position to his younger brother, Chase. In a rushed ceremony, Marlene married him and used her power to drive off the evil spirit that was threatening his life, easing the crisis for the moment.
