Aidan Vorn is the sole survivor of a massacre that destroyed his family, one of three founding clans, at the hands of Ur, the Reinhardt deputy headmaster. Saved by the elf mentor Green, who is bound to the Vorns by an ancient oath, he grows up on the island of Avalon. Twelve years later, after a giant Shadow Python raids the valley, he heads to the Star-Dome Academy of Magic to uncover who really killed his kin.
