I'm Not Your Ex Anymore

At a friend's birthday dinner, the narrator is suddenly face to face with an ex who has done well for himself, and he has brought along his new girlfriend. Being forced to share a table with the couple stirs up old feelings and sharp memories of how things ended between them. Pretending that the encounter barely affects her becomes the narrator's way of holding onto her dignity, even as the evening keeps pulling her back toward the past.
