Far from Home, Late to Return

Xia Wei and her younger sister Xia Qing grow up in a rural village, where they live happily with their mother even though money is always tight. Xia Wei's life takes a sharp turn when she wins a place at a top university, opening a door to a future far beyond the fields she has known. Her departure from home sets up the central tension of the story, as the distance between the sisters and the family they left behind begins to test what they hold dear.
