Kael, the most powerful Alpha alive, carries a curse that turns anyone who touches him to ash. Then a wolfless mage apprentice named Aria falls out of the sky directly into his arms and somehow does not burn. Hoping to find her fated mate, she becomes Kael's personal maid, not realizing the cold, dangerous Alpha is already drawn to her. A dark prophecy warns that any child they have would inherit a curse even deadlier than his, one that could take Aria's life. When rivals strike and her survival hangs in the balance, Kael must climb the most perilous mountain in the world to protect her.
