Burned by the Marriage Fire

After three years with Luke, Loretta is abandoned for Stella without a second thought, and she slips away quietly while carrying his child. Later, Luke sees Stella's real character and is consumed by remorse, pleading with Loretta in the pouring rain. Loretta refuses to forgive him, coldly telling him that being a widower suits him better. She then links arms with actor Wyatt Scott and leaves Luke behind, determined never to be fooled by a man like him again.
