Ashborn: Academy of the Veil

Jack has spent his quiet life in a small village, raised by his mother and an old teacher. When monsters descend on the village, his mother falls, leaving him with a dying request to find his father. With only that single clue, Jack heads for Veilspire, the most renowned magic academy in the realm, where he must face the entrance exam. There he is branded a Magic Zero, and the mocking crowd sees nothing special in him, until a power unlike any other begins to stir within him.
